Kia UK held its first graduation ceremony at its Derby-based Kia Academy on 14 November, two years after opening the training centre. The event recognised the first group of apprentices and brought together Kia UK leadership, training partners, and apprentices — each graduate received a certificate and a Kia gift in recognition of their achievements.
Chris Lear, director of afftersales, said: “This ceremony reflects the effort of our apprentices and Kia’s investment in skills and innovation. The Academy was built to deliver technical training, and today we see that vision realised.”
The Kia Academy, a 40,000ft
2 facility at St Modwen Park, is the national hub for Kia training. Delivered with
Skillnet, the UK’s largest provider of automotive apprenticeships, the programme offers pathways in technical and service roles. Apprentices gain experience in diagnostics, electrified vehicle systems, and customer service, supported by recognised qualifications and modern tools. The Academy supports Kia’s plan to develop future leaders and advance mobility through technical knowledge.
