Lawton Tubes, a copper manufacturer and supplier, is committing £25 million to a sweeping programme of improvements designed to future-proof the business well into 2026. The investment comes as the 107-year-old family-run firm, which posted a turnover of £230 million last year, looks to strengthen its position in an industry undergoing rapid change.
The transformation began with handheld tablets for the logistics team and a new ticketing system to streamline internal and external issue management. Building on these foundations, the company is preparing to roll out a new enterprise resource-planning platform, overhaul its HR systems, and expand its leadership team with appointments such as operations improvement manager Danielle White.
These upgrades will coincide with the opening of a £20 million headquarters, creating a modern operational base that will enhance efficiency and provide additional space for growth. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, subject to planning approval and the appointment of a main contractor.
Significant successRobert Lawton, a director at Lawton Tubes, said the scale of the investment reflects the family’s long-term commitment to the business: “We have never taken the future for granted. While we have seen significant success in recent years, we realised our processes needed enhancing to keep us moving forward as new innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI) become increasingly integrated into working life.
”Opening a new headquarters and investing in better systems is about giving our people the environment, tools and support they need to work more efficiently and allows us to not only grow but to enhance our product offerings. It is an exciting step and a sign of how serious we are about the future of Lawton Tubes.”
The improvements will streamline operations, sharpen communication, and deliver faster, clearer responses to customers across plumbing, HVAC, medical gas and the engineering sectors. Enhanced warehouse technology will ensure quicker and more accurate processing — critical in industries where reliability and precision are paramount.
Danielle White concluded: “We understand the pressures and expectations within the construction industry including plumbing and heating, HVAC, medical gas and engineering, and we want to stay one step ahead in how we support them. The improvements across our systems and processes, alongside the opening of our new headquarters, will enable us to service more customers than ever before.”
