XYZ Machine Tools Ltd, the largest seller by volume of CNC machines in the UK, will have a cross section of machines on display at
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2026, which takes place 3–5 February at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre. The company will be demonstrating its user-friendly CNC controls and will be cutting parts ‘live‘ to demonstrate the productivity gains that can be realised.
The recently introduced XYZ 400 UMC aims to bring “five-axis machining to every workshop in the UK” through its capacity and price point. Fitted with a 400mm diameter tilt rotary table, driven by a Japanese roller cam drive mechanism, it offers reduced set-up times when manufacturing parts with features on multiple faces or carrying out five-axis simultaneous operations.
The built-in spindle offering 25.7kW (35hp) provides maximum cutting performance to produce parts within the X, Y and Z travels of 800 x 600 x 510mm. The Siemens Sinumerik One control with a 22in touchscreen can be enhanced from its 4+1 configuration to take on full five-axis simultaneous work at placement of order or after delivery to provide a machine that will enhance every workshop.
Also on display will be an XYZ 500LR vertical machining centre alongside a CT 65 HD turning centre, both will be fitted with Siemens 828D controls with Jobshop conversational software that will demonstrate the user-friendliness of the conversational Shopmill and Shopturn packages.
Completing the line-up will be three machines featuring the ProtoTRAK RX series 15in touchscreen conversational control. The RLX 355 lathe with a 52mm spindle bore and a two-speed headstock provides the perfect platform for the production of one-off or small batch turned parts with its 225mm swing over the cross slide and 1,000mm between centres.
Likewise, the RMX 3500 bed mill offers great capacity with X and Y travels of 750x 480mm. Still usable in manual mode as well as being programmed using conversational software, the machine will feature the DXF option for even quicker part production.
Meanwhile, an XYZ 750 TMC will showcase how the ProtoTRAK control has progressed by controlling a 20-station carousel and 11kW (15hp) BT40 spindle. This ‘hybrid’ machine offers workshops the ability to produce everything from one-offs to high batch numbers while still maintaining the option to be used manually.
