Doncasters has hosted senior representatives from the City of Bochum and Bochum Economic Development at its Bochum facility in Germany, following the recent announcement of a landmark $52 million investment in the site. The visit brought together key regional figures, including Jörg Lukat, Oberbürgermeister of Bochum, along with managing directors Rouven Beeck and Dr Thomas Wollinger from Bochum Economic Development.
During their tour of the plant, guests met with Doncasters’ leadership team to hear more about the scope and significance of the planned investment, which is set to strengthen advanced manufacturing operations, drive long-term growth and reinforce the company’s commitment to the region. As one of the most substantial capital programmes in Doncasters’ history, the $52 million investment will expand production capacity at the Bochum site, bolstering its role in major aerospace programmes and creating new highly skilled roles. The initiative highlights Doncasters’ confidence in Bochum as a strategic location and its ongoing collaboration with regional partners.
Indy Rattu, president Europe at Doncasters, said: “This investment demonstrates Doncasters’ long-term commitment to Bochum and to advanced manufacturing in Europe. Our site plays a critical role in our global operations, and the support and collaboration from the City of Bochum and Bochum Economic Development are key to helping us grow sustainably and competitively. Doncasters values its long-standing relationship with the City of Bochum and Bochum Economic Development and welcomes the continued collaboration as the investment programme progresses."
Reflecting on the visit, Jörg Lukat added: “The visit to Doncasters showed how much confidence the company has in the location, but also in the quality of its employees. The company is investing in Bochum - and that is a good sign for the city. Internationally active companies find the best conditions here in Bochum.”
The programme marks a defining phase in the evolution of the Bochum site, underlining Doncasters’ focus on innovation, capability and sustainable growth across its advanced manufacturing operations.
