Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), the developer of sustainable, rare earth-free electric motors, has strengthened its position in Europe with the appointment of Dr Andreas Grüb as senior business development manager - Europe. Based in Germany, the dedicated in-market role reflects AEM's commitment to the region and its ambition to accelerate growth among European vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers.
Germany sits at the centre of Europe's automotive industry, and an established local presence gives AEM direct access to the OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and engineering partners driving the continent's transition to electrification. Dr Grüb will lead AEM's commercial development across the region, expanding the company's customer base, deepening existing relationships and identifying new opportunities as demand grows for electric motor technologies that reduce dependence on rare earth supply chains.
Dr Grüb brings more than 20 years' experience in the global automotive and mobility sectors, including almost two decades at Robert Bosch GmbH, where he led global OEM accounts for engine management and powertrain systems. More recently, he directed automotive business development at EV charging specialist EVBox. A Dr.-Ing. in electrical engineering from Technische Universität Darmstadt, he combines deep technical understanding with an extensive network across the international powertrain and electrification industry.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr Grüb said: "It’s great to be joining Advanced Electric Machines at such an exciting stage of its journey. European manufacturers are under real pressure to secure resilient, sustainable supply chains, and AEM's rare earth-free motor technology offers a unique – and proven answer. Having a dedicated presence here in Germany means we can work side by side with OEMs and Tier 1s as they make that transition, and I look forward to developing our relationships across the region."
James Widmer, CEO at Advanced Electric Machines, added: "Europe is a critical market for AEM, and establishing dedicated business development on the ground in Germany is an important step in our growth strategy. Andreas brings an exceptional combination of commercial expertise, technical understanding and deep industry relationships built over two decades at the heart of the European automotive sector. His appointment strengthens our ability to support customers across the region in delivering more sustainable electric mobility."
