Nasmyth has been awarded the first Air Inlet Manifold contract by
Coolbrook for its pioneering RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) technology, marking an important new programme for Nasmyth within the industrial and energy sectors.
The contract follows several months of close collaboration between the two companies and will see Nasmyth manufacture a key element of the RDH system.
The Air Inlet Manifold forms an important part of Coolbrook’s technology, which has been developed to electrify high temperature industrial processes traditionally powered by fossil fuels.
Capable of delivering process temperatures of up to 1700°C using renewable electricity, RDH technology is designed to help reduce emissions across energy intensive industries including cement, iron and steel, chemicals and petrochemicals.
The contract provides Nasmyth with an opportunity to apply its established precision engineering, fabrication and complex manufacturing expertise to the fast growing multi-million pound market of new generation of industrial technology.
Gary Sinfield, VP Business Development at Nasmyth, commented: “After several months of close collaboration with Coolbrook, we are delighted to have been selected for this pioneering project.
“Working with such an innovative and forward thinking team has been a highly positive experience. This contract enables us to demonstrate our manufacturing expertise within a rapidly evolving challenge of a greener industrial sector and support technology that could play an important role in the future of industrial production.”
Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Technology combines turbomachinery, chemical engineering and technology derived from space science to replace the burning of fossil fuels in high temperature industrial processes.
According to Coolbrook, when deployed at scale, the technology has the potential to reduce global industrial CO₂ emissions by up to 2.4 billion tonnes annually.
Joonas Rauramo, CEO of Coolbrook, said: “This contract with Nasmyth marks another important step in Coolbrook’s journey from technology development to industrial scale deployment. Securing world class manufacturing partners is essential as we work to bring our RDH™ technology to market and help accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy industry.”
