Bramley Precision Aerospace Ltd has acquired the assets, goodwill and intellectual property of
SFM Technology Ltd, establishing
Bramley Aerospace as a new sister company to
Bramley Engineering.
The acquisition expands the Bramley group’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, giving customers access to precision machining, fabrication, prototyping and complete assembly alongside Bramley Engineering’s established lifting engineering expertise. Bramley Aerospace will operate from the established manufacturing facility in Martock, Somerset, retaining an experienced team and specialist machinery supporting aerospace, defence and wider industry.
The acquired Martock operation will move forward under two specialist brands: Bramley Aerospace, focused on advanced engineering and manufacturing, and Bramley Harvesting, continuing the site’s long-established fruit harvesting machinery operation. While Bramley Aerospace is a new name, the Martock team brings more than 40 years of engineering and manufacturing experience. The business began in 1985 as Somerset Fruit Machinery, initially designing and manufacturing bespoke equipment before expanding into advanced manufacturing and aerospace engineering.
Today, the facility brings together a broad range of capabilities including precision CNC milling and turning, CNC laser and waterjet cutting, sheet metal bending, CAD design, prototyping, welding and fabrication, additive manufacturing, assembly and quality control. These capabilities allow Bramley Aerospace to support projects ranging from one-off bespoke components and replacement parts through to prototypes, production runs and complete fabricated assemblies.
Graham Bramley, managing director, said: “Bramley Engineering has always been about finding practical solutions to difficult engineering problems. Bramley Aerospace gives us the opportunity to build on that approach in a much broader manufacturing environment, bringing together experienced people, specialist machinery and a wide range of capabilities.”
Bramley Engineering has been solving specialist engineering and lifting challenges since 1979. The addition of Bramley Aerospace creates opportunities for the two businesses to work together where projects require both specialist lifting and manufacturing expertise.
Emma Bramley, account director, said: “This is an exciting development for the Bramley businesses. We have built long-standing relationships by being approachable, flexible and focused on finding the right solution for each customer. Bramley Aerospace gives us another way to apply those values and support customers with a much wider range of engineering and manufacturing requirements.”
Although aerospace and defence are important markets for Bramley Aerospace, the business will also support customers across utilities, rail and transport, civil engineering and general manufacturing. For existing Bramley Engineering customers, the new sister company provides a direct connection to additional manufacturing expertise when a project requires bespoke components, replacement parts, prototypes, fabrication or additional production capacity.
