KMF invests £186,000 in deburring technology upgrade

KMF invests £186,000 in deburring technology upgradeSheet metal manufacturer KMF Group has invested £186,000 in two new NS Máquinas DM1100 ZC EVO deburring and edge-rounding machines as part of a wider programme to enhance production capability and improve energy efficiency.

Installed at the company's production facilities in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the new machines increase processing capability to 1,600mm while incorporating improved extraction technology designed to reduce energy consumption. The investment also supports KMF's ongoing sustainability objectives and strengthens its ability to meet growing demand for a wider range of sheet metal products.

The equipment combines deburring and edge-rounding operations in a single process, enabling laser-cut burrs to be removed while simultaneously rounding edges. The machines can also process components protected by plastic film, preserving the original surface finish by concentrating work solely on the edges.

According to KMF, the new technology will deliver greater consistency and repeatability through enhanced digital programme storage, while helping to improve productivity, particularly on smaller parts that can be processed by a single operator. The machines feature a deburring contact roller combined with two cross belts fitted with abrasive blocks running in opposite directions, allowing edge rounding to be completed across the entire surface area of a component.

Adam Ellis, head of business development at KMF Group, said: “This upgrade will see KMF use the latest processing technology, aimed at meeting increasingly diverse demand for sheet metal products. These new machines give our production facility increased capabilities with the industry’s leading equipment and are part of a wider investment plan across the business.”

KMF Group manufactures precision sheet metal components, enclosures, machined parts and electro-mechanical assemblies for OEM customers across the UK and Europe. Alongside sheet metal fabrication, the company provides services including CNC machining, value engineering, design support and electro-mechanical integration.
