Atlas Copco compressor passes 40,000-hour milestone at WesTracAn Atlas Copco electric compressor has surpassed 40,000 operating hours while supporting the assembly of heavy mining and earthmoving equipment at WesTrac's facility in Perth, Western Australia.

WesTrac, a dealer and service provider for CAT mining and construction machinery, relies on compressed air to power pneumatic tools used throughout its assembly operations. Since being installed in 2020, an Atlas Copco E-Air H250 VSD compressor has been providing the consistent air supply required to support production activities across the site.

The assembly of large mining and earthmoving machines places significant demands on workshop equipment, with pneumatic tools playing a key role in ensuring components are fitted accurately and safely. Any disruption to the compressed air supply can affect productivity and lead to costly delays.

To support these requirements, WesTrac deployed the electric-driven E-Air H250 VSD compressor as a dedicated source of compressed air for its assembly processes. The machine is used daily and typically operates between 12 and 14 hours per day. Until the installation of an automatic shutdown timer last year, the compressor ran continuously around the clock.

According to the company, the compressor has already accumulated more than 40,000 running hours while continuing to meet the demands of the busy manufacturing environment.

Atlas Copco says the achievement highlights the compressor’s durability and suitability for industrial applications where reliability and long operating periods are essential. Throughout its service life, the unit has provided compressed air for pneumatic tools used in the assembly of CAT earthmoving and mining equipment, helping technicians maintain productivity while meeting quality requirements.

Operating outdoors and exposed to the realities of day-to-day industrial use, the compressor has continued to deliver a consistent air supply despite years of intensive service. WesTrac said the machine’s performance has enabled assembly teams to focus on their work with confidence, making it a dependable part of the operation.

The company also reports that the E-Air H250 VSD has met expectations for productivity and efficiency. By ensuring a reliable source of compressed air, the compressor supports smooth assembly workflows and helps maintain output across the facility.

Atlas Copco believes the experience demonstrates the importance of combining reliable equipment with demanding industrial applications. The manufacturer says the compressor’s performance over more than 40,000 hours illustrates its ability to deliver long-term reliability in manufacturing environments where uptime is critical.

With the milestone already achieved and the unit remaining in daily service, the E-Air H250 VSD continues to support the assembly of large-scale mining and earthmoving machinery at WesTrac’s Perth facility, underlining the importance of dependable compressed-air systems in modern production operations.
