Birmingham-based metal stockholder and processor Metalweb has decided to diversify after being told by automotive and aerospace customers that they are looking to shorten their supply chains.
The company has now added direct line feed, knitting and sub-contract management to its range of services, and it now offers non-aluminium products. Its current focus is on 17/4 PH, 15/5 PH and 13/8 PH steels, plus copper alloys and a range of nickel-based alloys.
Managing director Bruce Maggs said: “We anticipate that at least a third of our sales will come from non-aluminium products over the next two years. Our in-depth industry analysis shows that growth opportunities exist in the fields of aerospace and automotive, in which we are already active, along with oil and gas and high-tech industries such as medical.
Widening our product offering is yet another ‘string to our bow’, and we are excited by the opportunities this diversification will bring.”
Meanwhile, Metalweb has appointed a new sales manager, who will be responsible for the territory stretching from Scotland down to Stoke.
Tom Cuddy, who joins from Thyssen Krupp, said: “Metalweb is a respected name in the metal-supply industry and in many manufacturing sectors. The company is a real force to be reckoned with, and I’m delighted to be on board.”
