Techno orders Citizen Miyano centresThe Techno Group has ordered three Miyano fixed-head turn-mill centres from Bushey-based Citizen Machinery UK (www.citizenmachinery.co.uk), as part of its on-going restructuring and expansion plans.

The precision sub-contract machinist, which generates 60% of its turnover from the aerospace sector, has expanded both its production sites in Rugby and St Leonards-on-Sea to a total of 40,000sq ft; it plans to invest further to improve its productivity and to shorten its lead and reaction times. A total of 68 people are employed at both sites.

Operations director John Stretton said: “The Techno Group’s forward-looking strategy has already been rewarded by drawing in significant new contracts, following the progressive expansion of our machining operations, which have benefitted from nine new machine installations over the last two years.”

The Technoturn factory in St Leonards has been expanded by 4,000 sq ft, while the Technoset production facility and Techno Group HQ in Rugby have been expanded by 6,500 sq ft.

Now with the three Miyano machines (two BNJ-42SY5 models and an ABX-64SYY), plus two four-axis machining centres with twin pallets about to be laid down, Mr Stretton said that “the group’s machining capability and well-proven response to customers is already drawing significant levels of new work.”

The latest order brings the number of Miyano machines at the group to 15. The two new BNJ-42SY5 machines are the latest upgraded additions to the BNJ family, each with the advantage of increased spindle power.

They will initially be used to improve lead times on existing components and to provide added capacity for new work involving stainless steel and Inconel.
