The Laser Cutting Co, Sheffield, has achieved BS EN 1090-1 certification. After implementing a new quality control system and being assessed by TÜV, it has been awarded a Factory Production Control Certificate for the laser cutting of CE-marked materials.
As of 1 July 2014, CE marking of fabricated structural steelwork is mandatory in all member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area. Under the Construction Production Regulation, it is now a legal obligation for manufacturers, distributors and importers of construction products used within the EU to use the CE mark.
Company director Jon Day said: “Despite the legislation changes being in place since July 2014, many other laser job shops don’t see compliance as a necessity, because they claim to be providing a service, not a product. As soon as the legislation changes were announced, we understood that compliance with the new standards was vital, if we were to stay ahead of the competition and continue to provide our customers with the service and traceability that
they require.”
