OSS launches funding round

OSS launches funding roundOxford Space Structures (OSS) (www.oxfordspacestructures.com), which plans to develop a range of baby products using space technology, is hoping to raise £200,000 from investors on the crowd-funding platform Angels Den to support the launch of its new super-lightweight Space Cot.

In its pitch on Angels Den (www.angelsden.com), OSS said: “The travel cot market has seen very little innovation, so it is right for our first product — the Space Cot. We will then develop a range of innovative baby products, using cutting-edge technology and materials — including space technology — over the next five years.”

The company says that the Space Cot weighs less than 5kg, can be deployed and retracted in seconds and is based on satellite technologies from the European Space Agency. It is expected to come to market in July.

OSS will use £130,000 of the funding for product development and manufacturing, £40,000 for personnel costs and £30,000 for marketing. The chief executive is Fujua Chen — a former R&D engineer at Williams F1.
