After experiencing quality issues with out-sourced work, Redditch-based Birmingham Prototypes Ltd has ordered a Trumpf TruLaser Cell 7040 (
www.uk.trumpf.com).
It will use this five-axis machine with fibre-guided TruDisk laser technology to trim complex fabricated items destined for customers in the aviation and automotive sectors.
BPL founder Michael Adams says: “Some of our work calls for five-axis capabilities, and we wanted to exert more control over this process by acquiring our own laser cutting machine. This investment was necessary because of the quality issues with out-sourced work and the time that we were losing waiting for parts.
“We now have full control of our customers’ requirements, and that is key for meeting tight delivery schedules.”
