Record-breaking year for Oxford TechnologiesOxford Technologies Ltd — the Abingdon-based remote-handling specialist (www.oxfordtechnologies.co.uk) — reports record-breaking results for its 2014/15 financial year.

With both revenue and profit rising substantially, it has been able to invest £650,000 in facilities and capital equipment; this included setting up a new Assembly Integration and Test facility in a separate building.

As a result, eight new technical staff have joined the company; and with more graduate engineering vacancies coming on-stream in the near future, the workforce is expected to exceed 50 within the next few months.

The company’s recent successes include winning the seven-year Engineering Support Framework contract to develop the shaft and silo mechanical-handling and remote-handling (RH) systems at Dounreay, plus participation in the F4E RH Framework in Spain, the MYRRHA project in Belgium, and the supply of RH, machine assembly and diagnostic engineering services to ITER, France.

Managing director Alan Rolfe said: “Our achievements over the last 12 months are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team. They prove that UK engineering SMEs can compete successfully in one of the world’s most technically challenging and competitive environments.”
