Meltham to take on more staffHolmfirth-based heat-treatment company Meltham Thermal Engineers (MTE) is to invest around £3.5 million in its business and create seven jobs as it expands its production facilities.

The firm is to move into purpose-built factory premises in Slaithwaite in early 2016. This will result in an additional 12,000sq ft of space, taking the total up to 34,000sq ft.

There will be two furnaces, with room to add a third in the next two years. They will increase capacity by 25% and
reduce running costs by 50% due to their efficiency.

t attributes the growth to Government changes to the tax relief on capital investment, and it recently had a visit from local MP Jason McCartney to mark its success.

MTE director Geoff Windas said: “We were excited to show Mr McCartney around and talk to him about our growth plans. He is known for supporting local businesses, and it is great to know that he believes MTE to be a good example of a company with growth potential.”

Mr McCartney said: “I enjoyed hearing at first hand about the growth that capital investment will facilitate for Meltham Thermal Engineers. The company is maintaining the region’s reputation for excellence in heavy engineering, and this substantial investment in equipment will position it at the forefront of the heat treatment industry.”
