BAE delivers Archer system to SwedenBAE Systems (www.baesystems.com) has delivered the first production-series Archer artillery system to Sweden’s Defence Material Administration (known as FMV) during a ceremony at the company’s Karlskoga facility.

BAE Systems describes Archer as “one of the world’s most advanced artillery systems, with high mobility and precision”.

It provides fire support that is “powerful and flexible, and it features high levels of autonomous operation under protection. It is based on proven sub-systems and has an extensive ammunition portfolio”.

Lena Gillström — managing director of Weapon Systems Sweden at BAE Systems — said: “BAE Systems and FMV have been working very closely to achieve our high-level requirements for the Archer programme.

“This is an important milestone, as we begin the delivery of systems to our Swedish customer. Archer will give the Swedish armed forces an advanced artillery system that focuses on the safety of their soldiers.”
