Warwickshire-based FuturEnergy has won its largest-ever contract; it will supply 228 wind turbines to a Lebanese firm, IPT PowerTech (having already delivered 114 turbines to the Beirut-based power solutions company earlier this year).
The wind turbines will reduce the use of diesel generators to power mobile-phone communication masts.
Sales manager Sandra Shirley said: “We have been trading overseas since the business was set up 11 years ago.
Our turbines are mainly used in remote areas that are potentially off the grid. IPT PowerTech contacted us last year, as they wanted to use our turbines for communication purposes.
“Representatives from the company came over to meet us and to see our factory. They then placed their first order — for 144 turbines, which was then our biggest order — on 23 December. We manufactured those turbines within a three-month time-frame, as promised; another order then arrived — for 228 wind turbines.”
FuturEnergy received export support from the UK Trade and Investment team at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce’s international trade hub.
