For job shops looking to enter the laser welding market, Luton-based Trumpf Ltd (
www.uk.trumpf.com) has introduced its TruLaser Robot 5020 Basic Edition with TruDiode laser.
According to the company, the system can reduce the initial outlay by up to 20% (or by up to 50% where a laser network is used).
The entry-level TruLaser Robot 5020 Basic Edition has a footprint of 30sq m and is said to include everything a manufacturer needs to perform automated deep-penetration and heat-conduction welding in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium up to 4mm thick. To further boost productivity, a rotate-and-tilt positioner is included.
A laser network option allows this TruLaser Robot to tap into the beam source of a nearby Trumpf punch/laser combination machine or 2-D laser cutter, saving the cost of the TruDiode laser.
The TruDisk laser on either of these machine types can be switched to the robot welding cell in milliseconds.
