A Hampshire company has won a contract from a helicopter manufacturer for its innovative in-flight re-fuelling technology.
Fareham-based Barnbrook Systems Ltd announced the contract with aerospace, defence and security giant Leonardo-Finmeccanica at the
Farnborough International Airshow.
Its sensing technology monitors the air pressure in fuel systems to minimise discharges through air vents — “maximising efficiency and enhancing safety, while delivering cost savings and improved performance”. Leonardo-Finmeccanica will use the system in its Agusta Westland AW101 helicopter.
Barnbrook managing director Tony Barnett said: “This six-figure contract is going to put us firmly on the international aerospace map. It shows that an innovative SME with a track record for technological excellence can work closely with a prime business of the calibre of Leonardo-Finmeccanica to deliver market-leading solutions.”
