The multi-national engineering consultancy Altran (
www.altran.co.uk) has collaborated with Coventry-based Jaguar Land Rover to launch CoherenSE, a new software platform for the next generation of intelligent vehicles and machines. It says that CoherenSE “revolutionises traditional electrical and electronic automotive architecture and helps car makers use fewer computers, while delivering new features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and
Autonomous Driving”.
Altran, which has an office in Warwick, says the new platform will reduce the cost of integration, time-to-market and vehicle weight, while increasing flexibility and re-use during the product life-cycle as new features are introduced. Its first application will be in the automotive industry; in due course, it will be introduced into other areas, such as the medical, rail, industrial automation and aerospace sectors.
Chief technology officer Keith Williams says that CoherenSE has the potential to be “a real game-changer. Thanks to the open nature of this ‘disruptive product’, we are confident that our industries will benefit from the creation of an ecosystem of partners specialised in developing CoherenSE-compatible applications and software.
“It is really exciting for us to be developing a product that will have a significant impact across industry sectors.”
