Trumpf TruPrint 1000 investmentLPW Technology Ltd, which develops and processes cutting-edge metal-powder solutions for additive manufacturing (AM), has taken delivery of a new TruPrint 1000 metal AM machine from Luton-based Trumpf Ltd (www.uk.trumpf.com).

The first machine of its kind in the UK, the TruPrint 1000 will form part of a new metal AM lab that is being created by LPW at its base at Daresbury Laboratories in Cheshire.

Ian Brooks, LPW’s applications manager, said: “We are expanding our PowderLife products and solutions throughout the industrial AM process. This new machine enables us to accelerate not only novel alloy development, but also applications testing, process optimisation, powder degradation studies and R&D projects.

“The future lies in understanding data throughout the AM process, from beginning to end, linking together all the processes and data that affect the powder and — ultimately — the reproducible build quality.

“Our PowderSolve software package, as part of PowderLife, adds insight into this process. In conjunction with Trumpf, we are looking to enhance our knowledge and specification of AM-process parameters.”
