A Hampshire-based engineering company that supplies tooling and lightweight components to the premium automotive, F1 and motor-sport sectors has opened a new 120,000ft
2 factory.
Formaplex says that its new facility at the Voyager Industrial Park in Portsmouth will increase its production space by 80%.
Altogether, the company now has a total footprint of 270,000ft
2 across four sites — in Havant, Cosham, Horndean and Portsmouth. The new facility will house 15 injection-moulding presses, together with in-house finishing, assembly and metrology departments.
It has created around “100 new job opportunities,” according to chief executive Mike Bryant.
“We have experienced steady growth over the last five years, resulting in our current sites working at full capacity. This growth has been positively impacted by confidence in the automotive sector and increased international demand for UK premium car brands.
"We are currently producing 600 injection-mould tools and moulding about three million thermoplastic components a year — predominantly for the automotive industry. Our new premises will ensure that we can continue to provide our services and world class products to our blue-chip customer base.”
