Salford-based Centrica Business Solutions, an energy technology firm, has hit a new production milestone with the manufacture under way of its 3,000th ENER-G combined heat and power (CHP) unit.
This will allow Woodford Heating to provide low-carbon heat and power to 150 new apartments in East London.
It works by capturing and using the heat normally wasted in conventional power generation to achieve 90% efficiency.
Ian Hopkins, Centrica’s sales director for UK and Ireland, said: “We are immensely proud to design and manufacture high-quality CHP systems in the UK.”
