Life in the fast lane at GinettaLeeds-based Ginetta (www.ginetta.com), a specialist manufacturer of hand-built racing cars and sports cars, unveiled its new G60-LT-P1 earlier this year at Autosport 2018.

Founded in 1958 by the four Walklett brothers, the company was acquired by Lawrence Tomlinson’s LNT Group in 2005.
It has built a reputation as a renowned British heritage racing-car brand and is selling cars around the world.

Every car is hand-built in Ginetta’s ‘state of the art’ 75,000ft2 factory. and the company employs some of the UK’s best engineering and manufacturing talent to take each model from concept to reality, combining thorough engineering and quality control with the ability to move rapidly from prototype to production.

In 2016, Ginetta invested in its first CNC machine — a Haas VF-4SS Super Speed vertical mill with a 12,000rev/min spindle and four-axis control.

This is now making parts for the new G60-LT-P1, which will participate in the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship (including the 24 Hours of Le Mans).

The machine is also central to the manufacture of the company’s new G58 racing car; developed from the popular G57 in response to feedback from customers, this will have a 6.2 litre V8 engine, capable of producing 575bhp.

Daniel Shaw, supply chain manager, said: “The Super Speed is perfect for machining the high-complex aluminium parts we produce. It’s very easy to use and great value for money. The complete package was so good we couldn’t say ‘no’.

“The last few years have seen unprecedented success, with company turnover increasing by nearly 50%. Investing in Haas plus R&D, alongside further improvements to the range, has led to increased demand from international markets for our racing cars.”
