The
Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders(SMMT) is showcasing the strength of the UK automotive aftermarket sector at
Automechanika Frankfurt this week, bringing together some of Britain's most innovative companies under a dedicated UK Pavilion.
Taking place from 8 to 12 September, the exhibition is Europe's largest automotive aftermarket trade show and provides a platform for UK businesses to connect with international buyers, develop new partnerships and demonstrate their latest products, services and technologies.
Located in Hall 5.1, the UK Pavilion highlights the breadth of British aftermarket capabilities, offering visitors access to suppliers and specialists serving every stage of a vehicle's lifecycle.
Exhibitors represent a wide range of expertise, including replacement parts, braking systems, diagnostics, electrification, specialist engineering support and emerging vehicle technologies.
The pavilion also acts as a focal point for international trade and collaboration. At the previous Frankfurt event in 2024, it generated almost 1,000 business connections and partnerships worth an estimated £3.9 million.
The exhibition comes against the backdrop of a strong UK automotive supply chain, with automotive components worth around £7 billion exported worldwide each year. British suppliers support vehicle manufacturers, distributors, repair networks and specialist operators across global markets, helping to keep vehicles safe, efficient and roadworthy.
As modern vehicles become increasingly connected, electrified and software-defined, the demands placed on the aftermarket sector continue to grow. Advanced diagnostic capabilities, specialist repair and manufacturing skills, and expertise in emerging technologies are becoming ever more important to support vehicle maintenance and performance.
The UK is well placed to meet those requirements. The domestic market supports more than 80 vehicle brands and over 450 models currently on sale, while the growing parc of zero-emission vehicles is increasing demand for specialist tools, components, technical services and training.
