Warwick-based Arburg Ltd (
www.arburg.co.uk) organised a two-day event on 15 and 16 May.
The company’s success story began with the sale of the first Allrounder injection moulding machines in the UK in 1967.
Initially, the customers received support via a trading partner.
Over the years, as the overall plastics-processing market grew, so did Arburg’s share of it; 25 years ago, the decision was taken to found a fully owned subsidiary.
The transition was seamless, as all employees of the trading partner responsible for Arburg were taken on.
At the time, the subsidiary began with an 18-strong team headed by Frank Davis, who was a surprise guest at the anniversary celebration.
One of the milestones in the development of the UK facility was the construction of a dedicated building in Warwick, inaugurated in 1999 by HRH Princess Anne.
Managing director Colin Tirel has been ‘at the helm’ since 2005, and today the company has a team of 26 people, 17 of whom work in after-sales.
Mr Tirel said: “Our anniversary event was a complete success. We welcomed some 90 guests over the two days and were thus able to personally thank many of our customers for their excellent co-operation during the past decades — and showcase ideas for future projects based on the exhibits and presentations.”
