Additive manufacturing for metal parts

Additive manufacturing for metal partsOn its additive manufacturing stand at MACH2018, Renishaw (www.renishaw.com) demonstrated its software and systems for the production of metal parts.

These included the RenAM 500M, alongside demonstrations of QuantAM, the company’s build-preparation software. The company also highlighted the productivity benefits of its four-laser system — RenAM 500Q — which offers increased productivity in the most commonly used machine platform size.

Key benefits are a substantial reduction in cost per part, while maintaining the quality and precision offered by standard single-laser systems.

Renishaw says that by speeding up the process (by up to four times), it expects the RenAM 500Q to broaden the market appeal of metal additive manufacturing into applications that are presently uneconomic — and potentially into new industries that have yet to embrace AM in production applications.
