Japanese firm benefits from Vollmer technologyTokyo-based Heiwa Sangyo (www.heiwasangyo.co.jp) produces mould tools and critical components for the aerospace, space and rail industry sectors.

To manufacture carbide cutting tools such as end mills, drills and reamers to make the mould tools, it relies on a ‘state of the art’ Vgrind grinding machine supplied by Germany-based Vollmer (www.vollmer-group.com).

This flexible machine enables the Japanese firm to grind and sharpen its carbide tools unmanned and round the clock.
Heiwa Sangyo employs around 180 people and has been active in the international metalworking industry for over 50 years.

It has three production sites — in Funabashi, Ichikawa and Komagane — and it counts well-known companies such as General Electric and Rolls-Royce among its customers.

Stefan Brand, CEO of the Vollmer Group, said: “As a medium-size company, Heiwa Sangyo has established itself as a
reliable partner in global industries such as aerospace and continually invests in expanding its expertise and skills.

"We do our utmost to ensure that smaller companies also obtain a competitive edge with our sharpening technology, which in turn makes them fit for the future.”
