Middlesex-based Elite Metalcraft — a manufacturer of bespoke helical, straight and glass staircases — has invested in a Faccin 4HEL-3128 hydraulic four-roll bending machine after visiting the stand of sole UK agent Qualimach Ltd (
www.qualimach.co.uk) at
MACH 2018 in April.
This machine has a 3,000 x 12mm capacity, a four-roll linear guide and a Siemens CNC system. It was recommended to Elite Metalcraft because the latter’s spiral staircases have radius changes, which the CNC can accommodate.
Tom Gallagher, Elite Metalcraft director, said: “With many contracts coming in, we were in urgent need of new bending rolls.

MACH, we made the right decision, as the machine was installed and making us money in a matter of weeks.”
Pictured is a helical staircase rolled on the new Faccin four-roll machine, made from 6mm-thick mild-steel plate at Elite; the profile alternates between straight and curved, all rolled in one pass.
The inner radius was 320mm, and the finish was “flawless”.
