Tamworth-based Industrial Tooling Corporation Ltd (ITC — www.itc-ltd.co.uk) has added to its range of hole-making and chamfering products with the introduction of the new CKB series of R-Cutter tools from BIG Kaiser.

These modular ultra-high-feed front and back radius-chamfering milling tools are available as types CKB3 and CKB5.

They feature a high rake angle to reduce cutting resistance and minimise the generation of burrs, as well as an insert geometry that ensures extreme sharpness.

The radius-chamfering mill is offered as a four-insert type designed to allow machining in the tightest of spaces at high feed rates.

CKB tools have a connection with a floating drive pin that engages on both sides of the tool into respective pockets in the mating part; the tapers on the pins and the angles on the pockets are designed to allow an automatic balancing of the resulting tor-sional forces.

Moreover, this connection allows a variety of standard shanks and extensions to be adapted with the cutting heads to create ‘custom’ tools that can be longer than 16in and offer high levels of damping to manage vibration in long-overhang set-ups.
