Foundrax launches hardness testing machineSomerton-based (Somerset) Foundrax Engineering Products Ltd (www.foundrax.co.uk) — a leading specialist in Brinell hardness testing — recently launched its next-generation low-force Brinell range at Control 2019 in Stuttgart.

Managing director Alex Austin said: “The new Robus machines deliver a high-accuracy Brinell-hardness testing capability from what we consider to be the most robust bench-top system on the market.

"Our machines deliver laboratory-level precision in the harshest of conditions — including in steelworks — and
we pride ourselves on the accuracy, repeatability and lifespan of our equipment.

We have one example of a machine that has performed around 35 million tests.”

Foundrax also demonstrated the floor-standing BRIN400D — a shopfloor Brinell hardness tester that carries out automatic indentation and measurement for production-type applications.

Mr Austin said: “This robust machine has been designed to meet the most demanding requirements in harsh industrial environments, such as those found in forges, foundries and steelworks.”

Foundrax was founded in 1948 and claims to be the only company in the world to specialise in Brinell hardness testing equipment and accessories.

The company designs and manufactures all its own equipment, including custom-built solutions; it has customers in 46 countries, serving sectors that include aerospace, power generation, automotive, leisure and construction.

In addition to its core business, Foundrax has recently launched a new business (www.factorysuppliers.com) for the sourcing and supply of materials-testing equipment and consumables, as well as thickness-measuring and roughness-testing equipment.

The range of equipment available is being continually added to; it includes reference blocks and metallographic materials used for cutting, grinding and polishing.
