Hiab delivers 75,000th Moffett fork-lift

Hiab delivers 75,000th Moffett fork-liftHiab (part of Cargotec) (www.hiab.com) delivered its 75,000th truck-mounted fork-lift.

This was sold to the German group Behrens, which went to the Moffett production centre in Dundalk, Ireland, on 8 May to receive it.

The milestone unit is an emission-free electric Moffett E-series that was specially painted to mark the occasion.

Michael O’Reilly, product manager (truck-mounted fork-lifts) at Hiab, said: “Moffett is the original truck-mounted fork-lift and globally the most popular brand.

“We are immensely proud to have sold 75,000 units before Hiab’s Moffett brand celebrates its 75th anniversary next year.

Moffett is an Irish success story, and we manufacture all Moffett truck-mounted fork-lifts at our ‘state of the art’ manufacturing facility in Dundalk, County Louth, supported by about 400 employees.”

Behrens, which specialises in delivering wood products, runs a fleet of over 120 Moffett truck-mounted fork-lifts, of which over 20 are now the new E-series generation; additional units are on order.

It was also the first customer in Germany to use the Moffett E-series forklift.

Moffett ‘revolutionised’ the transportation industry with the launch of the Moffett Mounty, a compact three-wheeled fork-lift truck that could be transported on the back of almost any delivery truck or trailer and took up virtually no loading space.

Moffett was founded by Cecil Moffett in 1945 in Clontibret, Ireland, as a small engineering workshop producing agricultural machinery for family farms and other local businesses.

In 1996, production of the truck-mounted fork-lifts moved to Dundalk; in 2000, Moffett Engineering Ltd became part of Hiab and Cargotec Corporation, rapidly expanding its global sales and distribution network.
