Gerhard Böhm, Arburg’s managing director (sales), last month inaugurated the Arburg Technology Center (ATC) in Marinha Grande, Portugal.

This gives the company’s Portuguese customers the opportunity to view the latest injection moulding machine technology and to find out more about Industry 4.0 and “smart” plastics processing.

Mr Böhm described the ATC as a key milestone for the company’s presence on the Iberian Peninsula. He congratulated Martín Cayre (managing director of Arburg SA) and his team on the successful development of the company and the new location in Marinha Grande.

Mr Cayre said: “We are very proud of the fact that Arburg is the sole manufacturer of injection moulding machines with its own subsidiary in Portugal, and we are very pleased to be moving into the new building, together with our partner Gura.

"The heart of the ATC Portugal is a 340m2 showroom with space for up to four Allrounder injection moulding machines and a Freeformer for additive manufacturing.”

Arburg (www.arburg.com) is one of the market leaders in Spain and Portugal, where the company’s activities began back in 1960 with the delivery of the first machines to Portugal and co-operation with its trading partner Sociedade Comercial Romar Lda.

In 1997, the Madrid-based Arburg SA (there is also a subsidiary in Barcelona) took over providing customer
support in Portugal.

The Arburg team in the new ATC in Marinha Grande consists of a salesperson and three service technicians, along with support from the Spanish Arburg team.
