Scotland’s entrepreneurs unlock their ambitionTwenty of Scotland’s most promising and ambitious entrepreneurs have achieved significant growth in the last 12 months, following their participation in the RSE’s (Royal Society of Edinburgh) Unlocking Ambition Enterprise Fellowship.

Funded by the Scottish government, the 2018/19 cohort of RSE Unlocking Ambition Enterprise Fellows (www.rse.org.uk) recently celebrated completing the year-long RSE programme of funding, training, mentorship and support.

Their achievements are impressive: between them, in the first year alone, they have created over 50 jobs; appointed 37 new board members; secured over 2,700 customers, contracts and users; negotiated 16 investment deals; and won 19 award nominations.

They have also reached important business milestones such as establishing scalable business models, developing prototypes into viable products, and identifying new markets.

RSE president Anne Glover said: “Scotland has a global reputation for innovation, and we need to maintain that
entrepreneurial spirit.

It is vital that we have a sustainable approach to supporting start-ups that create high-quality jobs, boost the Scottish economy and change lives through new ideas.

"The RSE’s Unlocking Ambition Enterprise Fellowship was designed with those goals in mind, and participants have grasped the opportunity, with some fantastic results after just 12 months.”
