West Yorkshire-based Acorn Stairlifts has reported a turnover of £224.4 million in the year to 30 September 2018 (up 6% on the previous year), while its pre-tax profits were £22.2 million (up from £20.5 million in 2017).
The company — founded as a one-man operation in Bradford in 1992 — now has 1,536 staff world-wide, with more than 500 people based at the company’s facility on the Millennium Business Park in Steeton (near Keighley)(

Export sales of Acorn’s stairlifts continue to account for almost 71% of its income.
The company exports to around 80 countries and has subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.
