Floyd adds Evocut-Line tooling system

Floyd adds Evocut-Line tooling systemA specialist in the turned part and precision machining industry, Hertfordshire-based Floyd Automatic Tooling Ltd (www.floydautomatic.co.uk) has introduced the Evocut-Line tooling system from the Swiss company Applitec.

This completely new parting-off and grooving system features a compact design, simplified insert change-overs and compatibility with platen-type tooling configurations, making it suitable for use with machines that have compact work envelopes — such as sliding-head turning centres.

The Evocut-Line is available with the H-series Monobloc tool-holder, the H Jet-series tool-holder with an integrated through-coolant supply, and the HK, HK-RS, HUK and HM parting-off blades.

HK-series parting-off blades are a generic type, whereas the HK-RS incorporates a recess for sub-spindle access.

HUK blades have been designed for upside-down parting-off, while the HM is a ‘short length’ modular blade system.

The H-series and H Jet-series tool-holders are available with 10, 12, 16 and 20mm square shanks to accommodate applications ranging from compact tool platens in sliding-head turning centres to larger-capacity fixed-head machines.

Each of the tool-holder and blade combinations has been designed for fast insert changes and inter-changeability.

The Evocut-Line is offered with insert widths of 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3mm and a 44mm maximum depth of cut.

The ET15, ET20, ET30 and ET40 designations are available with Applitec’s U, J, T and A-type geometries; these are designed to improve speeds, feeds, material removal flow and surface finishes, while also accommodating a variety of
material types.

There are six insert grades that include PVD and CVD coatings, as well as uncoated grades for non-ferrous materials, allowing Evocut-Line inserts to be used for machining materials ranging from stainless steels, carbon steels and alloy steels through to titanium, aluminium alloys, copper, bronze and plastics.

There is also the option of high-pressure coolant delivery.
