Essex-based Waverley Brownall — a manufacturer and distributor of stainless-steel and exotic-material compression fittings and valves, as well as bespoke instrumentation products — has invested in a Speedy 300 Fiber flat-bed laser supplied by Trotec Laser (
www.troteclaser.com).
The company applies various markings to its products, including logos, part numbers and other marks for traceability. For many years, it used a dot marking machine, which required a lot of maintenance and a different set-up process for each part.
The Speedy 300 Fiber is a flat-bed machine with a working area of 726 x 432mm, available with a CO
2, fibre or dual laser source.
The fibre model allows direct marking of metals without the need for any additional consumables.
Since its installation, Waverley Brownall has seen an improvement in processing times, as Trotec’s JobControl software uses a single set-up even for processing multiple components, and the working area allows greater quantities of components to be processed simultaneously.
Commercial director Richard Sheridan said: “Our Trotec experience has been excellent. The area manager was extremely professional and friendly, with a wealth of industry experience.
“The laser is an excellent addition to the company, saving us valuable production time — and looking much smarter on our production line.“
