Worcestershire-based Morgan Motor Co, a manufacturer of iconic British sports cars, is to ramp up its recruitment programme.
The firm, which this year celebrates its 110th year in business, now employs a record 233 people after a recruitment drive this year added over 40; there are currently 10 job vacancies in various departments, including a number of senior roles.
The increase in recruitment coincides with improvements to the infrastructure at Morgan’s factory in Malvern Link (
www.morgan-motor.co.uk), which has been home to the sports car manufacturer for the last 105 years.
A seven-figure sum has been set aside for continued improvements to the historic factory site, while a new Technology Centre and Visitor Centre are currently under discussion.
The company also employs 12 apprentices in a range of core craft areas, as it looks to continue training and educating the next generation of craftsmen and women.
Its links to education have also been strengthened, leading to new employees starting from the University of Wolverhampton and Heart of Worcestershire College, after successful periods of work experience.
The investment in new staff and resources follows the launch of Morgan’s latest model, the Plus Six, which has sold in record numbers and marks the beginning of a new era of sports cars from the firm.
The engineering and design department has recruited almost 20 new people in the last six months.
The increased engineering capability ensures that Morgan can stay ahead of the latest legislative requirements and explore cutting-edge technology to match its unrivalled craftsmanship.
The company has embarked on a journey to modestly increase production over the next five years; it will expand marketing and distribution operations in order to meet this plan.
