Middlesbrough-based Metador, a manufacturer of steel security doors, has invested in a new TruPunch 5000 machine supplied by Luton-based Trumpf Ltd (www.trumpf.com).

Installed at the end of October, this has been purchased to increase capacity, improve efficiency and reduce lead times in the production of the company’s steel security, emergency and fire-rated doors.

Metador technical director Tristan Mallinson said: “The TruPunch 5000 is a premium machine with incredible capabilities.

"It will allow us to continue to meet our customers’ requirements as efficiently and quickly as possible.

"The machine will reduce our timescales for producing larger doors, as well as doubling our capacity at a time when the demand for Metador products is at its highest level.”

The new Trumpf machine follows a new brake press purchased in June and rounds offa successful year for Metador, which has also expanded its factory space by 50% through the recent purchase of a neighbouring building.

Managing director Simon Evershed said: “2019 has been a very busy year at Metador, with us achieving a 40% increase in manufacturing capacity so far.

"The recent expansion of our manufacturing space and the addition of new machinery will help us to cope with the
unprecedented demand and increase our capacity even further.
