SEAT (
www.seat.com) is strengthening its commitment to urban mobility — and breaking into the motorcycle market — with the introduction of its eScooter concept; a fully electric 125cc-equivalent motorcycle was shown at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress on 19 November.
At the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, SEAT announced that it would spearhead the Volkswagen Group’s ‘micro-mobility strategy.
In addition to the eScooter, it has developed the Minimó concept car and the eXS Kickscooter (powered by Segway), which was presented at the
2018 Smart City Expo.
SEAT president Luca de Meo said: “The constant growth of large cities makes achieving efficient mobility one of the main challenges to overcome.
“Today, we are taking a further step in our urban micro-mobility strategy by confirming the launch of the first eScooter in the history of the brand.”
Barcelona has the most motorcycles per capita in Europe. SEAT will further develop its eScooter concept in collaboration with Barcelona-based electric motorcycle maker Silence, and the result will be sold to both ‘private customers and sharing fleets’.
