Get up to Speed with STEM unveils sponsorsGet up to Speed with STEM — Yorkshire’s largest annual employer-inspired science, technology, engineering, manufacturing (STEM) and construction careers event — will take place at the Magna Science Centre in Rotherham on 25 March.

It is organised by the Work-wise Foundation, and the headline sponsors for 2020 include Sheffield’s Liberty Speciality Steels, Chesterfield’s CBE+ and Rotherham’s AESseal plc.

The event attracted 3,000 visitors from 69 schools in 2019; over the last 10 years, it has showcased engineering career opportunities to over 19,000 young people.

John Barber, CEO of the Work-wise Foundation and chairman of the Get up to Speed steering group, said: “This event is made possible by the support of local businesses, and, in particular, our headline sponsors.

"They have backed us for many years, and it is fantastic to consistently receive such strong support from some of the
region’s most respected manufacturers.

"This year we will be showcasing what local pupils, apprentices and employers have achieved by working together and being part of Get up to Speed with STEM over the past 10 years.”

This year’s free event will highlight robotics and renewables, feature 10 zones to mark 10 years and include presentations by previous visitors who have gone on to secure a career in STEM-related industries.

For more details and to book places, go to (www.getuptospeed.org.uk). Businesses wishing to take part, book a stand or sponsor any of the zones should e-mail or call 07500 331400.
