Rolls-Royce ships 250th engine to Enstrom Rolls-Royce has delivered its 250th engine to Michigan-based Enstrom Helicopter Corp.

The RR M250-C20W has reliably powered the Enstrom 480B for more than 25 years, first entering service together in 1993; engine number 250 will power a helicopter for the Botswana Police (Air Support Branch).

The 480B is Enstrom’s ‘flagship’ turbine helicopter. The five-seat aircraft undertakes a variety of roles, including military trainer, law enforcement and emergency medical.

Jim Payton, vice-president of sales (civil helicopters) at Rolls-Royce (www.rolls-royce.com), said: “We are proud of the strong relationship we’ve built with Enstrom Helicopter, exclusively powering the 480B for nearly three decades.

“To deliver 250 engines is a significant milestone and compelling testament to the exceptional fit and performance of the M250.”

The Rolls-Royce M250 engine has powered more than 260 million flight hours, and more than 33,000 M250 engines have been delivered to the market-place. M250 operators are supported by the Rolls-Royce FIRST (Fully Integrated Rolls-Royce Support Team) network of more than 30 licensed service centres around the world.

The M250 is manufactured in Indianapolis, where a $600 million Rolls-Royce investment in modernisation and technology programmes is nearing completion, including ‘state of the art’ advanced manufacturing. Rolls-Royce employs 6,000 people in 27 states across the USA.
