100 new jobs at William HareWilliam Hare Ltd, the UK’s largest independent steel fabrication company, has invested £10 million during the past 12 months after its acquisition and development of the former Rowecord Engineering plant in South Wales.

The company’s plans, which include expanding the facilities, improving the manufacturing capabilities, creating apprenticeships and working with local companies, have been backed by £350,000 of Welsh government funding.

William Hare Ltd (www.hare.com) is part of the international William Hare Group; the latter’s chief executive, David Hodgkin, said: “As a business, we pride ourselves on our ability to quickly meet the changing requirements of our clients.

“The acquisition of and investment in the Risca facility will continue to improve productivity, meeting our clients’ needs through creating local jobs and supporting other businesses in the area.”

Over the next two years, more than 100 new jobs will be created at the Risca site, which currently employs 23 people. Economy minister Ken Skates said: “I’m delighted that the Welsh government is supporting William Hare’s plans to grow in Risca, securing jobs and creating new ones.

“We have demonstrated over many years that we are a steadfast supporter of the steel industry.”
