Last month, the German company Eppinger (www.eppinger.de) highlighted the benefits of collaboration between companies and their suppliers when it received the ‘DMT Best Partner Award’. For many years, Doosan Machine Tools (DMT) has been using tool-holders and cycloidal gear units from Eppinger, some of which were specially developed for the company.

With this award, Doosan ‘honours its best suppliers for excellent performance in the manufacture and delivery of products or services’.

Eppinger’s sales manager, Joel Judas, said: “With our individual developments for — but also in co-operation with — Doosan, we have been able to set a world standard in terms of tool interfaces. We aim to give our customers efficient solutions to improve their processes and applications.”

Managing partner Uwe Eppinger will accept the award at Doosan Machine Tools’ headquarters in Korea, although the award ceremony has been postponed for the time being, because of the Coronavirus crisis.

The Eppinger Group, a medium-size family-owned business based in Denkendorf (Baden-Württemberg), has specialised in precision tools for lathes for almost 100 years. Its product range includes fixed and driven tool-holders and complete tool systems, as well as rotary tables.

Today, the company also develops special precision gear units that are used in all areas of mechanical engineering; these include angular and co-axial gear units, as well as geared motors, for a wide variety of applications in robotics, mechanical engineering and plant construction.
