Rimac Automobili, a developer and producer of electric sports cars, drivetrains and battery systems, last week welcomed Greg Hands, UK Minister of State for Trade Policy, to its Zagreb headquarters, to celebrate the continuation of a close relationship between Rimac Automobili and the UK, with the announcement of the opening of a new research and design facility in Warwick.
The company which employs nearly 1,000 people, is planned to employ 30 people by the end of 2021 in the UK.
Rimac founder and CEO Mate Rimac said: “While Croatia will always be our home, we have decided to take the opportunity to gather a small team in the UK, where the automotive industry has a long history and great expertise.
“We are of the strong opinion that British engineers are world-class in the field of electrification and the future of mobility. While we are starting with a small office, we might expand significantly in the years to come, with UK engineers working on Rimac’s future projects, while closely collaborating with our team of engineers, designers and technicians in Croatia.
The company already has close ties to the UK, with
H.R. Owen forming part of its global partners network. The company has already provided electrified technology to a number of British automotive brands such as Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover, as well as being a supplier to many of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers, including Hyundai, Porsche, Automobili Pininfarina and Koenigsegg.
Rimac is on schedule to soon unveil the ultimate showcase of its EV technology — the hypercar C_Two, in its final form. Designed, engineered and built in-house at Rimac Automobili, and subject to a multi-year homologation process, the C_Two will enter series production — limited to 150 units.
The Rimac C_Two will have a top speed of 258mph, acceleration time of 0-62mph in under 2sec, and a 0-100mph time of 4.3sec.
