Rotamec acquistion expands its 24/7 repair service into the MidlandsSomerset-based Rotamec Engineering Services, a specialist in motor rewinds, pump and gearbox repairs and drive solutions has expanded its operations into the Midlands following the acquisition of Leicester-based CovElec Ltd.

The Leicester-based site will continue to offer the same level of technical expertise and engineering know-how, while expanding its services into new markets.

With almost 40 years’ experience as a motor rewind and repair specialist, CovElec has a reputation for technical expertise in the field of motor rewinds and electro-mechanical repairs.

CovElec founder Peter Wilson said: “Our customers come first, so I wanted to be sure that they would continue to experience the same high levels of service that they are used to. Rotamec shares the same customer focused philosophy, but also has the capabilities to offer additional services and reach new markets.

“I have every confidence that under Rotamec’s ownership the business will grow to the next level, while continuing to support our loyal customer base and providing stability for our staff.”

Rotamec is a leading electromechanical service provider for rotating equipment including the repair and maintenance motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes and power transmission components. The company which now operates out of four sites in the UK, offers its customers a 24hr call-out service which includes on-site diagnostics, repair and installation services, as well as distribution partnerships with many leading brands.

Rotamec managing director Simon Brooks said: “CovElec is a great business with a well-deserved reputation for quality – evidenced by its position as an ABB Authorised Value Provider. Under the ownership of Rotamec, the business will continue to deliver the same high-quality service, only with added capabilities both on-site with our customers and back at the repair shop.

“I believe in investing in people, so already have plans to open up an apprentice programme at CovElec. We want to make sure that we can deliver a personal service and will always have engineers available to visit customers on-site for maintenance repair or diagnostics.”

With a large stock-holding of new motors, gearboxes and drives, customers can be assured of short lead times for new equipment as well as for repairs. The experienced field service teams are fully equipped to carry out diagnostics as well as removal and installation of equipment on-site.

“In addition, the 24/7 promise means that they are available whenever a breakdown occurs, minimising downtime and keeping customers’ processes operational.”
