Sales of Devon-based
XYZ Machine Tools’ range of machine tools, particularly its ProtoTRAK-controlled mills and lathes, are showing strong growth around Europe, with sales now representing 13% of the company’s turnover.
From the turn of the year sales have steadily increased thanks to renewed manufacturing confidence, particularly in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Netherlands and Belgium. Overall sales this year so far are already 33% higher than 2020 and are predicted to double by the end of the year.
Howard Bamforth, XYZ Machine Tools’ export sales director, said: “It is encouraging that sales in many European countries are returning to pre-pandemic levels. We are also seeing increased numbers of orders from educational establishments across the continent including France, Germany and the Netherlands. While Covid-19 and Brexit should have created the perfect storm, both are now having limited impact on our export sales.”
September will see ten machines loaded and despatched to customers in Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden and Spain. While travel to visit these customers has been restricted, the export team at XYZ Machine Tools has remained active and a Norwegian dealer has just come on board to add to the European distribution network.
Mr Bamworth added: “Our new Norwegian partner is based just outside Oslo and, is the first of several new outlets for our range of machines that we hope to secure before the end of this year”.
This growth in export sales is encouraging news for XYZ Machine Tools, which has also seen strong growth around the UK as the economy continues to bounce back from the Covid-19 restrictions.
