Heyco-Werk Süd selects Scape Technologies for automation projectThe Danish company Scape Technologies (generally known as Scape — the bin-picking company) has received an order from Heyco-Werk Süd (based in Tittling, Germany) for a Scape Bin-Picker and a Scape Mini-Picker.

Heyco-Werk Süd is part of the Heyco Group, which started with the production of hand tools but is now a leading supplier to both the automotive and automotive supplier industries; it has some 900 employees and production sites in Germany, Ireland, the Czech Republic and the USA.

The complete Scape Bin-Picker solution will be used for picking randomly placed metal parts from containers. After picking a part from the container the Scape Bin-Picker will place it on a conveyor belt.

Frank Nüsken, the general manager of Scape Germany, said: “This is the first Scape order from Heyco and it confirms our core competence and strong position in the robotic material-handling domain. The standardised Scape Bin-Picking concept enables a wide range of industries to implement flexible and reliable bin-picking solutions for handling parts, thereby optimising productivity, eliminating monotonous tasks and improving workers’ ergonomics.”

Founded in 2004, Scape Technologies has developed patented technology to recognise, pick and place parts. The company’s systems, which are generally marketed in cooperation with partners responsible for building and implementing them, are widely used within the automotive industry, with end users including Ford, Nissan and BMW. Scape also develops solutions that can be connected directly to leading six-axis robot brands, including Universal Robots, ABB, Fanuc, Kawasaki and KUKA.
