Norbar to hold virtual careers evenings for apprenticeshipsBanbury-based tools manufacturer Norbar Torque Tools Ltd, which make tools for tightening nuts and bolts accurately, is hosting a series of virtual careers evenings next month to attract suitable candidates for two new engineering apprenticeship positions at the company.

Following the success of last year’s virtual events, the company intends to showcase the career opportunities for apprentices through online sessions in order to maintain social distancing as the Covid-19 pandemic continues.

The open evenings will be taking place on the 7, 8, 9 and 10 February and interested youngsters will be able to book slots between 6 and 8pm to discuss the job roles virtually with Norbar’s head of HR, Wanda Stewart-Lee, along with Rob Alderman from the Engineering Trust.

In addition, video tours of Norbar’s manufacturing facility will be available to offer insight into a modern manufacturing environment and the opportunities available for apprentices.

While concerns over youth unemployment persist, Norbar is demonstrating its commitment to developing young people’s skills in the Banbury area and is urging them to consider manufacturing and engineering careers.

Ms Stewart-Lee said: “The pandemic has made the job market a tougher environment than ever for young people. For manufacturers like us, it is extremely important that we do everything we can to equip young people with the skills to progress in their career.

“Though Covid-19 continues to make in-person events unfeasible, we still hope to give all of the advice and information to attendees hoping to go into engineering through these virtual events.”
